2015 Petit Le Mans

Petit Le Mans is a 10 hour race. At 10 hours is the third longest race of the Tudor United SportsCar Championship. The week starts earlier than any other.  Some teams run testing on the Sunday prior to the race week. We are usually parked in the registration lot on Monday night as Lites testing […]

Petit Le Mans Week 2011

The ILMC/WEC races are starting to have an IndyCar weekend feel to them. The faster cars show up and bring a self-important, aren’t you glad we are here, now go away we are busy vibe. I like the fact that there are so many international entrants, but somehow the Audi vs. Peugeot thing seems to […]

New catch fence at Road Atlanta

Turn one is suddenly sporting a catch fence. I am not surprised as shooting in T1 at ground level is quite dangerous.  There isn’t much decent room on the riser though. Should be a few angry photographers come Saturday morning. Please follow and like us:

Best Vintage Car Racing Photo of 2010 Contest

If you want to go straight to the voting and be done with it, you just need to follow THIS LINK or click the Lotus to the left and make a comment about how amazingly great you think the image by Darren Pierson of Bob Leitzinger in his Lotus Elan is.  Its the fourth one […]

NASA-SE Santa’s Toy Run Enduro 2010

When its still in the dark of the AM, its quite cold out and I am driving to Road Atlanta, it must be time for Santa’s Toy Run.  The weekend starts off with an 8 Hour enduro on Friday morning.  Last year, the were not as many participants, so I was very pleased to see […]

SVRA 2010 Season Finale at Road Atlanta

I usually enjoy shooting Historic Races.  For some reason, I was having trouble getting into the groove.  N ot sure why, the day was warm and sunny, there were a good amount of fans, not to many photographers crowding into one area, fairly optimal.  Maybe it was the low car count.  Maybe I was burnt […]

Petit Le Mans 2010 – Not so Petit this year

Road Atlanta is our home track, we live all of 40 miles from it.  Consequently, I spend quite a bit of time shooting there.  I take this as a challenge though and try to perfect the staples such as Sunset in the Esses all the while looking for new angles and shots.  Petit is somewhat […]

The Mitty Challenge at Road Atlanta 2010

For me, the Mitty arrives at a precarious time.  Its at the beginning of the graduation season, which is a large source of income and a bigger drain of time for me.  I’m busy and geared up for a completely different form of photography.  I’m tired and cranky from non-stop hurry up and wait shooting. […]

Bad Rocketman

In December, I went to Road Atlanta to shoot NASA-SE Santa’s Toy Run.  One of the cars I photographed was Drew Ewing’s BMW M3 He recently made a video where he used some of my photography from the weekend. Not all of the stills are mine, but most of them are.   The video is […]

NASA-SE Santa’s Toy Run Weekend

The southeast region of the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) has an annual event at Road Atlanta called Santa’s Toy Run.   Aside from three days of racing, they collect toys for Toys For Tots.  If you bring a toy to the track for donation, admission is free.  A very good deal in my book. […]

The 2009 SVRA Atlanta Vintage Grand Prix

I think I can get into this vintage racing thing.  The cars are loud and fun.  What exactly is a Ginetta G4 you ask?  The drivers are interesting and accessible.  I have my run of the place and nobody is hitting me in the head with a 500mm in a T3 photo hole.  Its a photographic […]

The Most Petit Le Mans Of Them All (partie trois)

Saturday September 26, 2009 5:30AM EST-Race Day-Pounding rain on the roof of the RV.  I jumped out of bed and went outside to gather up our chairs and tables and make sure everything was under the awning and dry.  Back into bed, I contemplated my slightly damp state and wondered if I could get any […]

The Most Petit Le Mans Of Them All (partie deux)

Friday morning was another beautiful fall day in Georgia.  On tap was morning practice, the driver autograph session and in the afternoon, qualifying.  Personally, I’m not a collector of signatures.  I do have a few that I have kept: Jim Leyland, Ross Brawn, James Weaver, Efren Reyes.  I even have a poster from Laguna Seca […]

The Most Petit Le Mans Of Them All (partie une)

Nonstop rain for what seemed like 2 weeks.  Atlanta flooded.  Then the sun came back, it was Wednesday September 23rd; time to head up to Braselton for Petit Le Mans. When we arrived at the track, we had the usual document dance to attend: credentials, golf car, get the RV into the track, pick up […]

Getting Geared Up For Petit Le Mans 2009

This morning while running through our checklist for Petit, I started thinking about how necessary a golf cart is at Road Atlanta.  At most races held there, you can use your car, but during the Petit Le Mans week, there are just way too many cars and people at the track.  In fact, there are […]

2009 WERA Cycle Jam at Road Atlanta

My hope is that I challenge myself.  Last weekend I went up to shoot the WERA Cycle Jam at Road Atlanta.  I had never shot a Moto before and have limited experience shooting cycles at all.  To top it off, it was scheduled to be the hottest weekend of the year so far.  Fun! I […]

2009 The Mitty Challenge at Road Atlanta

HSR was running The Mitty Challenge at Road Atlanta on the Weekend of May 1-3.  I had to shoot a graduation on the 2nd, so we could not go up until Sunday. This worked out well as Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day.  The sky was a great medium gray with just enough […]
