2015 Lone Star Le Mans

COTA is a fun track to shoot. It’s huge and has oodles of terrain changes. It’s a relatively new track to me, I suppose to everybody since it has only been open since 2012, so I have not yet fallen into the trap of shooting the same shots over and over each year.  For those of you who don’t already know; COTA is a grade 1 FIA spec track, this means, among a host of other things, that there are a limited amount of photo holes through which you can shoot. This is ok since they, unlike many other tracks, were put in place to promote quality shooting rather than discourage it. <rant> It feels like some facilities intentionally put photo holes in the absolute wrong position just to irritate the photographers. I doubt this is true, but certainly some of them were cut under instruction of people without any artistic leanings what so ever. </rant>

The Prototype Lites support series I shoot wasn’t running at COTA this year, but I did have a few cars to cover in the main Tudor race, so it would still be a busy week. In my continuing string of luck, at the beginning of the third practice session, one of my clients crashed into another one and took them both out of the weekend.  Also, it was HOT.  We ran the genny in the motorhome for four days straight just to keep the A/C running. The year before, it rained constantly, so I guess I’m just never happy. My main team did end up on the podium, so that helped close out the week in an upbeat tone.  Onward to Road Atlanta!

I have included a selection of my most favorite shots from the Lone Star Le Mans below, but you can also see my entire highlights gallery HERE. As always you can check out my complete body of work at DarrenPierson.com
